Invest in Your Calling. Join the Early Career Youth Pastor Cohort.
The Helping Pastors Thrive: Early Career Youth Pastor Cohort is a two-year journey (Fall 2026 – Spring 2028) designed for those who recognize that long-term ministry requires more than just passion—it requires a community of practice.
We are looking for 10 to 12 youth pastors ready to move beyond the "solo" nature of ministry and enter into a season of shared learning, deep reflection, and professional renewal. Led by a dedicated facilitator and two experienced mentors, this cohort is a space where your experiences are the curriculum and your well-being is the priority.
The Cohort Experience
Unlike a traditional conference, this program is built on Reflective Immersion. You aren't just a student; you are a co-creator of the experience.
Mentorship that Matters: Our mentors are seasoned leaders who offer a wealth of pastoral wisdom and a genuine commitment to walking alongside you in the trenches of youth ministry.
The Power of the Small Group: Success in this cohort is rooted in a shared commitment to growth. We seek applicants who are open, curious, and ready to engage deeply with their peers.
Mostly Funded: We believe in the value of your ministry. Most expenses—including high-quality accommodations, travel, and meals—are heavily subsidized by the Helping Pastors Thrive program. You (or your church) will be responsible for $500/year ($1,000 total).
Requirements & Commitment
To ensure a cohesive and impactful experience, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Role: Currently serving in a youth ministry leadership position in a CBFNC partner church and are in their first decade of ministry.
Commitment: This is a two-year journey. Participants must commit to attending all four retreats (each is a two-night/three-day experience). The first one is scheduled for August 31-September 2, 2026.
Collaborative Design: Be prepared to help shape the program. Along with mentors, you will identify the emerging issues and "real-time" ministry challenges that will drive our learning sessions.
The Selection Process
Participants are selected based on their written application and a personal interview with the cohort director. We are specifically looking for applicants who demonstrate a desire for communal learning and a readiness to reflect on their own pastoral practice.
How to Apply
The application is divided into two parts:
The Basics: A quick online form for contact and ministry information.
The Reflections: A series of three short essays designed to help us get to know your heart for ministry and your hopes for this cohort.
Ready to begin? You can type your responses directly into the form or upload a separate document.
